Introduction

NTU Graduate Institute of Chinese Literature Student Union aims to encourage the exchange of learning, research, emotional connections between students. It also aims to manage with the demands of course scheduling, institutional planning and serve as a platform for student-teacher interaction and debate. The NTU Graduate Institute of Chinese Literature Student Union was the brainchild our classmates, and through the strong support of department chair Li Longxian, was officially founded in November 2012. The Student Union is divided into three student run committees. The academic committee organizes study groups, symposiums, intercollegiate seminars, and works to craft a course schedule that reflects student needs and demands. The departmental affaires committee works to improve and streamline communication between the department and students, set qualification examination dates and graduation requirements, and publicize departmental events and activities. The activities committee primarily organizes outdoor activities such as mountain climbing, barbecues, and holiday celebrations. They also organize informational sessions that invite graduates to share their experience with current students, fostering a strong sense of community in the department. As The NTU Graduate Institute of Chinese Literature Student Union moves forward, we plan to focus on student recruitment and continuing to serve as the primary platform for student exchange. According to an ancient proverb, “Solitary study only leads to backwardness and ignorance,” therefore our most important goal is to foster a warm, family-like atmosphere in the department.
